ALL GRADUATING CLASSES

For the first time in a long while, all four MHS graduating classes will fall under the same graduation plan - HB5.
“The focus of HB 5 is to make sure every student graduates prepared for college and a career by creating flexibility for students to pursue their passion.”
 Senator Dan Patrick

Memorial High School students will default to the Foundation Plan with Endorsements, requiring 26 total credits.
  • 4 credits in English language arts (English I, II, III, and an advanced ELA)
  • 3 credits in math (Algebra I, geometry, and an advanced math credit)
  • 3 credits in science (Biology, IPC or an advanced science credit, and another advanced science credit)
  • 3 credits in social studies (U.S. History, .5 economics, .5 government, and either world history or world geography, or a new course combining world history and world geography)
  • 2 credits in languages other than English (computer programming languages may substitute)
  • 1 credit in fine arts
  • 1 credit in P.E.
  • 5 credits in electives (may include CTE or certification courses)
  • 4 endorsement electives

To remain academically competitive, we strongly suggest students take four years of all core subjects.

All students will also be required to take and pass five (5) EOC/STAAR tests to graduate:
1. English I
2. English II
3. Biology
4. Algebra I
5. U.S. History
